ART HELPS ME: SPRING SESSIONS
Art helps me slow down, notice things and gives me somewhere to put feelings I don’t always have words for. It connects me to myself, to other creatures and to the world around me. I love finding ways to express myself through making which is really accessible — I don’t need to buy materials, it doesn’t necessarily take up a lot of time and I can do it anywhere.
These are small, informal workshops for anyone who wants to spend a couple of hours making — with no experience needed and no pressure to produce anything finished or good.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS Each session I’ll be sharing some of the things I’ve been finding helpful in my own practice lately — you’re welcome to try them, adapt them, or follow your own thread. This might include making little books, exploring mark-making, working with natural inks, or using creatures and drawing as a way to understand feelings. Some sessions will also include zine-making and simple collage. You might pick one thing and stay with it for the whole two hours, or try several. There’s no right way to spend the time.
Sessions are kept to 10 people and led gently — there are prompts if you want them, and space to follow your own curiosity if you’d rather. The workshops take place in my studio at Old Manor Park Library, a beautiful Grade II listed building in Manor Park that isn’t usually open to the public.
TICKETS Workshops run on a pay-what-you-can basis:
- 🌱 Concession — £5 – if money is tight right now
- 🌿 Standard — £9 – the suggested contribution
- 🌳 Supporter — £15 – helps keep it accessible for others
If none of these work for you, get in touch at jo@misswoodforthetrees.com — no need to explain why.
A NOTE ON THESE SESSIONS This is a creative and supportive space, but it isn’t a therapeutic service and I’m not a therapist. If you’re going through a difficult time, you’re very welcome here — making things can be a real support. If you have any questions about whether this is the right space for you or someone you care about, feel free to get in touch before booking.
